SHAW NEWSPAPER RECEIVES
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

For the third year, Shaw’s newspaper, The Silver Star, has received the
Georgia Scholastic Press Association’s Community Service Award. During
the May Board meeting, the staff and their advisors were recognized by the
Board.
For more than two years the staff of The Silver Star has mentored the
students at Fox Elementary in publishing The Fox Print, their newspaper.
Their work at the Salvation Army Santa Shop and their adoption of a family
at Christmas, along with volunteering at the annual Drug Free You and Me
Conference, has demonstrated their continuing commitment to the community.
Mona Griffin is the advisor for The Silver Star, and Sonya Boyd is the
assistant advisor.; Amy Pippins and Bryan Brown are the Co-Editors. Staff
members are Tabitha Bradford, Bryan Brown, Brittany Campbell, Amy Pippins,
Chasity Tuitasi, Brittany Cantwell, Courtney Clifford, Caleb Guron, Tara
Hicks, Joseph Housel, Courtney Marshall, Ashley Obleton, Shraddha Patel,
Jacquez Patterson, Luke Wagner, and Jasmine Marshall.
