JORDAN SENIOR NAMED MEMBER
OF STATE SUPERINTENDENT'S ADVISORY COUNCIL

Jacob Wood, a senior at Jordan High School, has been named a member of
the State School Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Jacob is one of 53
students to be selected out of 550 from 118 school districts across the
state who applied to serve on this council. The council members meet four
times each year and provide input on how state policies are being
implemented at the local level and advise the State School Superintendent on
issues that are important to students and communities.
During the February Board meeting, he and his principal, Richard Stone,
were presented to the Board.
Jacob has served as Vice President of his Junior class and Senior class.
He is on the Varsity Precision Marksmanship Team and has served as its
Captain for two years. He has been the recipient of many awards: Most
improved Marksman, JROTC Brigade Commandeer for Muscogee, Harris and
Chattahoochee Counties, JROTC Superior Cadet Award (two years), Most
Outstanding JROTC Cadet 2007, National Sojourners Award, and the American
Legion and Civitan Award for Scholastic Excellence. Jacob has received an
early acceptance appointment to Virginia Military Institute and will be
attending VMI in the fall.
