During the May meeting, the Board honored William Flewellen
with a resolution. His wife, family, alumni, and Spencer's principal
Reginald Griffin were present to receive the resolution.
Whereas, William R. Flewellen was a native of Columbus,
Georgia and;
Whereas, Mr. Flewellen was a 1969 graduate of Spencer High School,
maintaining always in his heart a love for his alma mater and;
Whereas, Mr. Flewellen attended Columbus State University, and;
Whereas, Mr. Flewellen was honored as a member of the Chattahoochee
Valley Sports Hall of Fame, and;
Whereas, Mr. Flewellen served his community as a member of Revelation
Missionary Baptist Church, and as a participant in its’ Deacons
Ministry, and;
Whereas, Mr. Flewellen served as a member of the Superintendent’s Round
Table of the Muscogee County School District, and;
Whereas, Mr. Flewellen was the National President of the William H.
Spencer Alumni Association, often going above and beyond the call of
duty in his loyalty and devotion to Spencer High School, and watching
carefully over the progress of his beloved high school for many years;
Therefore, the Muscogee County Board of Education recognizes this
multitude of achievements of Mr. William R. Flewellen with gratitude and
appreciation, while extending to his wife, Annette, his sons, Gregory
and William and his daughter, Traci, as well as to other members of his
family and his many friends, its deepest sympathy on his passing. We are
blessed to have had such a citizen in our midst.
It is so resolved, this 19th day of May, 2008, unanimously, by the
Muscogee County School Board.
