COLUMBUS HIGH WINS 2008 AAA RAY HORNE AWARD

Columbus High School received the 2008 Class AAA Ray Horne Award. In each classification, the award is presented to one outstanding school that obtains the highest overall points in at least two of three categories: State One-Act Play, State Debate, and State Literary Meet.

Point System

  • 1st place - 12 points
  • 2nd place - 9 points
  • 3rd place - 6 points
  • 4th place - 3 points

Columbus High placed first in the Class AAA State One-Act Play in November, 2007, and placed fourth in the Class AAA State Literary Meet for a total of 15 total points. The decision is made following the State Literary Meet, the last of the three literary events, in March each year.

The award is named in honor of Ray Horne, who has served the Georgia High School Association member schools for over 30 years as the State One-Act Play Coordinator and State Literary Meet Coordinator.
