Columbus High Volleyball Team Places Fourth in State
In November, the Columbus High School volleyball
team placed fourth in Georgia AAA in state volleyball competition in
Atlanta. They also placed first in Area 2-AAA. This team advanced
further than any other volleyball team in the history of MCSD and Area 2AAA
volleyball. During the December Board meeting, Chief Student Affairs Eddie
Obleton presented representatives of the team to the board, along with Donna
Fleming, Coach, and Susan Bryant, Principal. Team members present were
Anna Crutchfield, Amanda Hurley, and Tionna Crawford.
Lagi Roberts, senior, was named to the All-Star
Volleyball Team (top 24 seniors in the state). Lagi was also named to the
All-State Team as one of the top 24 players in the state.
Other members of the team are Kaitlin Solomon,
Captain; Crystal Forman, Captain; Kitrina Metcalf, Lori Renner, Anna
Crutchfield, Tionna Crawford, Terakka Walker, Chelsea Whitehurst, Amanda
Hurley, and Taylor Buckner.
The team managers are Ashley Usera and Brittany
Usera; the coaches are Donna Fleming and Chris Akers.
