MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

T. Hiram Stanley Award Winners 2007

The Kiwanis Club of Columbus initiated The T. Hiram Stanley Award program in 1979 as a way of recognizing and encouraging academic and overall excellence among promising middle school students in the Muscogee County School District. This scholarship was established in honor of T. Hiram Stanley, who was a long-standing Kiwanian. He served as the club's president in 1948 and as the Kiwanis Georgia District Governor in 1958. He was a high school principal in Mississippi and a long-term member of the Muscogee County Board of Education, which he served as chairman.

Funding for the T. Hiram Stanley Scholarships is raised by the Kiwanis Club of Columbus. Over $168,000 has been awarded through this program to deserving students based upon scholarship, leadership, community service, and good character.

At the T. Hiram Stanley Honor Scholarship Awards Luncheon on May 8, the following students were awarded scholarships:

Elizabeth Hernandez, Arnold Magnet Academy
Priyanka Chatterjee, Blackmon Road Middle School
Molly Stokes, Midland Middle School
