T. Hiram Stanley Award Winners 2007

The Kiwanis Club of Columbus initiated The T. Hiram Stanley Award
program in 1979 as a way of recognizing and encouraging academic and
overall excellence among promising middle school students in the
Muscogee County School District. This scholarship was established in
honor of T. Hiram Stanley, who was a long-standing Kiwanian. He served as
the club's president in 1948 and as the Kiwanis Georgia District
Governor in 1958. He was a high school principal in Mississippi and a
long-term member of the Muscogee County Board of Education, which he
served as chairman.
Funding for the T. Hiram Stanley Scholarships is raised by the Kiwanis
Club of Columbus. Over $168,000 has been awarded through this program to
deserving students based upon scholarship, leadership, community
service, and good character.
At the T. Hiram Stanley Honor Scholarship
Awards Luncheon on May 8, the following students were awarded
scholarships:
Elizabeth Hernandez, Arnold Magnet Academy
Priyanka Chatterjee, Blackmon Road Middle School
Molly Stokes, Midland Middle School
