Jordan Wins Georgia AAA State Basketball Championship

Jordan High School Red Jackets became the AAA
State GHSA Basketball Champions on Saturday, March 10, at the state
competition in Macon with a win over East Hall, 65-53. This was the Jordan’s
first boys' basketball state title in 64 years. During the March Board
meeting, Principal Dwain Tovey, the team, coaches, and other staff were
introduced to the Board by Chief Student Affairs Officer Eddie Obleton.
The Red Jackets started their state quest at
home with a 67-65 overtime win against Washington County. The second round
of the tournament was against Dougherty High School. The third round (Elite
8) was played against Central High of Macon. Jordan defeated Hart County In
the fourth game (Final 4) 88 to 62
Team members are James Abraham, Derek Brown, Joe
Crouch, LaQuintin Crouch, Terrance Hill, Xavier Jordan, Timothy Jordan,
Xavier Lane, Steve Peterson, Keith Saunders, Pierre Ware, Ivey Winfred, and
Joshua Woods.
Coaches are Gerald Turner, Head Coach; Collins
Jones, Assistant Head Coach; Wes Wilson, Assistant Coach; and
Glenn Lawton, Assistant Coach. Anthony Dimitri is Jordan's Athletic
Director.
Trainers are Cartavius Minger and Derrick Hayes.
The scorer is Daniel Boatman; statisticians are Tonja Turner and Alton
Albritton.
