Coach Charles Flowers Inducted into Georgia Dugout Club Baseball

Coach Charles Flowers, MCSD Director of Athletics, was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Baseball
Hall of Fame on January 20 in Atlanta. During the February meeting, Chief
Officer for Student Services Eddie Obleton announced this honor and
presented him to the Board.
The Georgia Dugout Club is based in
Atlanta and the organization recognizes players, coaches, and facilities for
all levels of baseball--high school, collegiate, and professional--for the
state of Georgia. It is recognized throughout the United States and abroad
for its dedication to excellence in baseball. Criteria for induction is
based on accomplishments as a coach and service to players. Milestones
reached in terms of wins and losses also play an important part in the
selection process.
Coach Flowers’ overall record in baseball was 429 wins and 180 losses. He was State
Coach of the Year 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2005. His Shaw team was Region
Champions in 1997, 1999, 2003, State Champions in 2001, State Runner-up in
2000, 2002, 2005. In his career he had 82 players to sign college
scholarships and 10 players to play on the professional level.
