BOARD RECOGNIZES CONTRIBUTIONS OF
DRUG FREE YOU AND ME VOLUNTEERS
At the December Board meeting the Board recognized the contributions of the
Drug Free You and Me volunteers to our community. Vice Chairman James Walker
presented a memento to representatives Maria Cordero, Nancy Buntin, and Mona
Griffin.
Drug Free You and Me committee members are Mona Griffin, Committee Chair;
Tony Adams, Transportation Chair;
Nancy Buntin, Finance Chair; Susan Amador, School Information Chair; Jan
Ussery, Hospitality Chair; Dianne Preston, Gift and Donation Chair; and Joy
Solomon, Volunteer Chair.
Sponsors of the program are Linda McLemore, McDonald’s; Ron Hinze and Maria
Cordero, Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce; B. J. McBride, Muscogee
County School District; and Herman Miles, Columbus Police Department.
The Drug Free You and Me Conference is a youth conference designed to help
equip the students of Muscogee County School District with the tools they
will need to make the right decisions when faced with the choice of using
drugs and alcohol. For fifteen years volunteers have helped to make this one
of the most successful conferences in the state. The conference has gained
national attention as an ongoing example of community, business, and schools
partnering to help students to be drug free.
