Columbus Student Recognized as Outstanding Southeast Region AP Student

Mark Doss,
a senior at Columbus High, was named the Outstanding AP Student for the
Southeast Region by the College Board Southeastern Regional Forum on
February 9 in Atlanta. During the February meeting, Chief Academic Officer
Dr. Peggy Connell introduced him and his principal Susan Bryant to the
Board.
Mark will have 10 AP credits when he graduates. He scored a 5
(perfect score) on nine of the Advanced Placement exams and a 4 on the other
as a sophomore.
Mark, who is the son of Olin and Rebecca Doss, is Captain of the CHS Math
Team, a National Merit Finalist, and a National Hispanic Scholar and is in
the top 5% of his senior class. He is one of 30 students in the state to be
invited to become a member of the state ARML Team. He also earned a perfect
score of 800 on the math portion of the SAT in January. He has been accepted
at the California Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of
Technology.
