MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Five Schools Receive State Awards
2006 Single Statewide Accountability System Award Winners

Georgia’s Single Statewide Accountability System encourages schools and districts to establish aggressive academic goals in their quest to move beyond adequacy to educational excellence. Awards are divided into platinum, gold, silver, and bronze levels for two categories: greatest gain in meeting and exceeding state academic standards or highest percentage of students meeting and exceeding state academic standards.

Muscogee County had five schools recognized for excellent academic achievement or improvement in the 2006 Georgia Single Statewide Accountability Systems Awards.  Dr. Peggy Connell, Chief Academic Officer, recognized these principals at the October Board meeting.

  • Britt David Elementary Magnet Academy, Veronica Collins, Principal, and Columbus High School, Susan Bryant, Principal, were Platinum Award Winners for Highest Performance in meeting and exceeding academic standards.
  • Shaw High School, Jim Arnold, Principal, was a Platinum Award Winner for Greatest Gain in meeting and exceeding academic standards.  (Dr. Arnold was represented by Dr. Marietta Webb at the Board meeting.)
  • Clubview Elementary, Adele Lindsey, Principal, and Waddell Elementary, Carolyn Ambrose, Principal, were Bronze Award Winners for Highest Performance in meeting and exceeding academic standards.
