MapNetWEB is a
browser interface with MapNet, a database of information used by
Transportation and Central Registration. MapNet is an add-on
component to
the management software package Trapeze. This component of MapNetWEB
will help
parents identify the schools (elementary, middle, and high)
specified for students at a particular address. Instead of
looking at maps or reading zone descriptions to identify
attendance zones, parents will type in their home addresses.
This project is intended to be a service to the community.
Please
note the following points about the MapNetWEB school
locator database:
- The school identified for a particular
address reflects the assignment for the current school year. The
Superintendent of Education is authorized to make adjustments to
attendance zones when a school's capacity cannot effectively
provide space for enrollments and programs.
- You may need to try
several versions of your street name. There are some
inconsistencies in the way the database handles some words; for example,
although it recognizes the abbreviation Rd, it doesn't recognize
the word Road. (Caps are not necessary.)
- The database will display only the schools that students living
at a specific address would normally be assigned to; re-assignments are not
reflected.
- Special entity
schools and programs such as the Academic Success Center and the STEPS
program at 30th Avenue do not have attendance zones. Our two
district-wide magnet schools, Britt David Computer Magnet
Academy and Columbus High School, do not have attendance
zones. These schools and programs are therefore not listed.
- There
may be errors in the display of
information until adjustments are made.
If you believe that this is the case
with your particular home location,
please email mhudson@mcsdga.net and
explain why you believe that the zone information is not
accurate.
- Some new home addresses or
new streets could be omitted in these listings. Periodic
updates will be made, but if you need immediate
assistance, please call Central Registration at 748-2222
or email mhudson@mcsdga.net .
- You may want to explore the
descriptions
or maps of the zones (general reference only).
