The nature of the hospital/homebound program is to provide home instruction for children who are unable to attend school for extended periods of time due to medical reasons.  It is required that a medical doctor certify that the student will likely have to be absent from school 10 days or longer. 

 

The program provides home study to extend educational activities while a student copes with a medical problem. It provides a means of uninterrupted education while the student is absent from school for an extended length of time.  Many children who receive home instruction under the supervision of a hospital/homebound teacher might otherwise be repeaters or dropouts.

 

The process of requesting hospital/homebound  service begins at the school. A request form may be picked up at your school or at the Columbus Roberts Center.
