Muscogee School Counselors and Dr. Betty McBride, Director of Guidance Services, attended the 2005 Georgia School Counselors Association Fall Conference in Augusta, Georgia. The delegation from Columbus represented the district well, with delegates casting their votes for 2006-2007 officers.

Helen Jones, counselor at MLK, Jr. Elementary School will be the next Elementary Work Setting Vice President; Paulette Rameau, counselor at Rose Hill Center, will be the next Secondary Work Setting Vice President; Princess Crittenden will serve at the Region Chair for Region V; Trekella Nelson, Counselor at Columbus High School, will serve as the Region V Chair-Elect; Beatrice Allen, counselor at Rigdon Road Elementary school, will serve as Conference Coordinator for 2006-2007; and Dr. Betty McBride, Director of Guidance Services, Past President for GSCA, will serve as the Finance Chair for 2006-2007.

A total of 25 school counselors attended the conference, where information regarding the advocacy for student success was the focus. The conference theme "Teaming Up For Students Success" will serve as the driving force for activities and further training on the ASCA model, a framework for counselors to establish a foundation to deliver, manage, and be accountable for playing a role in student achievement.
