Susan DeClue, a school nurse, was honored
by the Board during the January meeting for his selection as winner of the
January ABCD Award.
From the Nomination Form
Susan DeClue, the school nurse at the Teenage Parenting Center, serves
TAP each morning and then goes to five other schools in the afternoons. She
provides information and care not only for middle and high school students;
but also, she cares for children (6 weeks to 3 years old) in the Child
Development Center. She is truly multi-talented, having to acquire knowledge
for babies, toddlers, expecting and parenting moms. She answers many
questions for our new moms and allays many fears by providing them with
information and often demonstrations of what is needed.
She comforts expectant moms with information about their baby’s birth and
tips on making it through the stressful periods of pregnancy, birth and “new
momitis” and also assists them in getting doctor’s appointments. She advises
the Coordinator of the Child Development Center to help the Teenage
Parenting Center maintain its high standards. She often researches issues on
her own time at home to bring in the latest health or development topics and
information. She is a caring person who goes the extra mile, whether it
means a smile, kind word, rocking a sick baby or educating students.
