The winner of the February ABCD Award is Twana Lowe of Muscogee Elementary
School. During the February Board meeting, she was introduced to the Board
by Don Cooper, Chief Human Resources Officer.
Twana Lowe is a kindergarten paraprofessional at Muscogee and has
been employed by MCSD since March 2001. She exhibits perseverance and is
always willing “to go the extra mile” in her pursuits. She consistently
assists others and serves as a role model for many students. Working with
Student Council, the Science Club, and Girls of Elegance gives Ms. Lowe a
chance to change lives and help make dreams come true. She impacts students’
lives weekly by meeting with Student Council members to brainstorm ideas for
fundraisers and ways to beautify the school.
For the last three years, she has conducted investigations with third,
fourth, and fifth graders to help them prepare for the Science Olympiads.
She has helped to supervise, support, and transport students on Saturday
mornings to this competition since 2003. As an advisor for Muscogee’s
Mentoring Program, Girls of Elegance, she works diligently to help the girls
develop leadership skills and become community service volunteers. She
believes that a positive attitude is essential for young girls to succeed in
life and reach their goals. She has assisted with raising funds for Relay
for Life and is an involved member of the Muscogee’s Juvenile Diabetes team.
Because of her diligence, resourcefulness, high energy and motivation, Twana
Lowe is very deserving of the “Above and Beyond the Call of Duty” Award.
