MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Alisa Brown of Britt David Wins November ABCD Award

“Above and Beyond the Call of Duty”

Alisa R. Brown, Lead Custodian at Britt David Magnet Elementary, is the recipient of this month’s ABCD Award. She has been with the school district for 21 years. During the December Board meeting, Chief Human Resources Officer Don Cooper presenter her with a plaque.  Assistant Principal Joseph Myles was also present to recognize her.

According to her supervisor, she is exceptional and consistently goes above and beyond the call of her assigned and responsible duties. She works and supports the entire school in a number of ways. She is extremely dedicated and committed to the entire mission of the school, not just the custodial areas.

She displays a genuine interest in all students and is supportive of teachers, students, and administrators. She takes on many tasks beyond her job description, including helping students with homework in the afternoon and maintaining and carefully securing the lost and found section for students and parents to claim lost or misplaced items.. She presents herself with a cheerful spirit and a smile, even in the face of adversity. She is very helpful in setting up classrooms and offices, from moving large pieces of furniture to handling clocks and pencil sharpeners. She is very aggressive in monitoring the building facilities for safety and general operation. She works very well with the Plant Services personnel and follows up to ensure work orders are completed.

She works well with the parents and the community. She works with the school PTA executive officers to facilitate school functions, advising and helping with decorations for programs. She serves on the school’s Black History committee and takes an active part of the program from planning to the finish. When the school’s facilities are used for the county voting precinct, she coordinates with the voting officers to ensure that signs (especially for the handicapped) are strategically placed for a smooth operation that will not interfere with classroom instructions.
Students and staff enjoy her unique gifts, which enable her to balance a strong work ethic with her genuine love for people. She is a real asset to the school, and she is very deserving of this award.
