Henry Countryman, Assistant Trainer in the
Transportation Department, has been named the ABCD Award winner for October.
He was introduced to the Board during the October meeting by Don Cooper,
Chief Human Resources Officer.
Mr. Countryman has been employed by the Muscogee County School District
since 1986 as a bus driver. At the beginning of this school year he assumed
the in-office duties of Assistant Trainer. He is also responsible for
assigning substitute drivers to cover routes left open by sickness, personal
leave, and field trips. He has done an outstanding job ensuring all students
are picked up and delivered home with the burden of few or no substitute
drivers, and often has to drive a bus when no drivers are available. He has
worked many hours at home and sometimes into the late evening hours. Mr.
Countryman’s positive attitude, attention to detail, and concern for the
safety of our students remains constant even under very stressful
conditions. Despite very “last minute” notification, he always accomplishes
the mission at hand and renders the best customer service that can be
expected to the students, parents, and
bus drivers. All of these qualities make Mr. Countryman a deserving
recipient of this award.
