Wins March ABCD Award
“Above and Beyond
the Call of Duty”
|
The recipient of the March ABCD Award, Queen Spivey,
secretary at the Muscogee Evening School, was
introduced to the Board during the March meeting by Don Cooper, Chief
Human Resources Officer.
Queen Spivey has been employed with the school district for
twenty years. Currently she is located at Daniel Education Center/Muscogee
County Evening High School. Since May, 2003, Mrs. Spivey’s performance as
secretary, customer service specialist, bookkeeper, payroll monitor,
facilities manager, and inventory clerk has been absolutely superb,
according to her principal. Overall productivity at Evening School has
almost doubled, and overall school performance is at a premium. During the
past three years she has become an integral member of the learning
community. She is truly a “lead by example” administrative assistant. She
possesses excellent leadership skills and is highly motivated, setting
the example in personal appearance, attitude, and dedication and thus
enabling
positive communication and coordination with a multitude of internal and
external customers.
She plays an active role in every aspect of the school’s
mission, makes critical contributions to office and personnel
administration, work center functions, office machine management, and a sundry of other
functions. She carefully planned, organized, and executed a new office
procedure to enhance accountability, resulting in a timely return of
personnel and payroll records within Evening School. In addition, she
developed and executed a new in-processing procedure in which the
time processes were cut in half. She regularly examines program
effectiveness and seeks better procedures.
She is a role model for students. Mrs. Queen Spivey
epitomizes the qualities and characteristics of a secretary who goes “Above
and Beyond the Call of Duty,” in her job.
