JUDY KING WINS MARCH 2005 ABCD AWARD

“Above and Beyond the Call of Duty”

“Above and Beyond the Call of Duty”

Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, Mr. Don Cooper, recognized Judy King, secretary at Shaw High School, as the ABCD award winner for March at the March Board Meeting.

According to Shaw's principal, Dr. Jim Arnold, Judy King’s job title is "secretary," but she is in fact a teacher and role model for everyone at Shaw. Her professionalism, extremely high standards, willingness to go beyond the basic requirements of any and every task, and the example she sets for everyone at Shaw is representative of the highest standards of professionalism. The teachers and students marvel at her composure, dedication, and quiet insistence that everyone do their best in every situation.

Judy has been employed by MCSD since 1983 and has worked at Shaw since January 1992, and has cheerfully accepted such responsibilities as training Gordon Stallings, Eddie Obleton and Jim Arnold. Her patience is legendary.

Dr. Arnold further states,  "Simply naming her duties and responsibilities, both those in her job description and those additional ones she has accepted, does not, despite the length of the list, adequately describe her contributions to our learning community.  I can think of no other that so perfectly exemplifies 'Above and Beyond the Call of Duty' than Judy. She is the heart and soul of Shaw High School."
