Rachel Roop, a senior at the Academic Success Center,
suggested the students and staff participate in a canned food drive. The
challenge was to collect enough cans to represent every person at ASC (about
250). Our Principal Dr. Marietta Webb agreed to contribute another 250 cans
if we reached our goal. Rather than just reaching our goal, we surpassed it
by gathering 431 cans; together with Dr. Webb’s 250, ASC collected 681
canned food items, which were given to the Open Door Community House.
Helping Rachel with the logistics of the drive were Margaret Rothwell and
David Comalander (the students in the pictures) and teacher Leslie
Robertson. The two students standing outside are Rachel and David.
