AT BREAKFAST HONORING
MCSD TOTY NOMINEES 2008


Wednesday, March 19, 2008, the MCSD Teacher of the Year Breakfast honored all TOY nominees for 2008. The keynote speaker was the National Teacher of the Year, Andrea Peterson of Granite Falls School District, Washington.  Wendy Harding of Hardaway shared some of her experiences as MCSD's Teacher of the Year for 2007.  The event, coordinated by Margaret Ingersoll and Perdita Dowdell of the Division of Human Resources, was held at Downtown Elementary Magnet Academy, Sheila Brock, Principal.

Extending greetings to the nominees were Dr. John Phillips, MCSD Superintendent, Dr. George Stanton, Columbus State University Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and Joel Ames, Chair of the Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation (MEEF), sponsor of the event. Dr. David Rock, Dean of CSU's College of Education, introduced the National Teacher of the Year.  Don Cooper, MCSD Chief Human resources Officer, James Walker, Chair, Muscogee County Board of Education, and Shelia Brock, Principal, Downtown Elementary Magnet Academy, also spoke. Music was provided by the Columbus High Jazz Band under the direction of Isaac Leverett, and the Downtown Elementary Magnet Show Choir, under the direction of Marci Hankins.
