Columbus is not only a great place to learn and teach — it’s a great place to live.
Columbus is a regional retail center and offers a variety of cultural,  entertainment, and sporting activities. Among the facilities available to citizens are the Springer Theater (the state theater of Georgia), Columbus Symphony, National Infantry Museum, Civic Center, Riverwalk, Historic District, Coca Cola Space-Science Center, and the new RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.

Columbus is also a sports hub. In addition to the recreational opportunities afforded by the Chattahoochee River and many parks and ball fields, the city is home to professional baseball, arena football, basketball and hockey teams and was the venue for Olympic women’s fast-pitch softball in 1996. Annual events include the Riverfest, Steeplechase, Uptown Jam, and PGA golf tournament.

As the first consolidated government in Georgia, Columbus is considered one of the most progressive cities in the state.

Columbus is home to AFLAC and Total System Services, named by Fortune Magazine as two of the most employee-friendly companies in the United States. The city is the headquarters for many other outstanding companies. Nearby Fort Benning is consistently named the best military installation in the world.

Columbus and the surrounding area offer a small-town quality of life with access to big-city amenities. Atlanta is less than a two-hour drive and the beaches and mountains are just four hours away. World-famous Callaway Gardens and Roosevelt State Park are only minutes away.
